Privacy Policy

Grow Love is made for two people, not for advertisers. This policy explains what the app and this website handle, why they handle it, and the choices available to you. It describes what the software actually does, not what would be convenient to claim.

The short version

• Your diary, letters, memories and answers stay on your phone until you ask for an invite code.
• Pairing with your partner is what sends data to a server, and only what has to travel goes there.
• We never ask for your phone number, your social profiles, your location or your contacts.
• No advertising, no tracking across other apps or sites, no selling of anything. Ever.
• We use a subscription service to process purchases and anonymous product statistics to see which features people open.
• You can erase everything from the app in two taps, and you can write to us to have the rest removed.

Who is responsible

Grow Love is made and operated by Uladzislau Kashayed, a sole proprietor based in Belarus, trading as Grow Love. That is the person responsible for the personal data described here, which data protection law calls the data controller. A postal address is available on request.

For any privacy question or request, write to [email protected]. A person reads that address, and we answer within 30 days at the latest.

What stays on your device

Your names and start date, your tree's growth and watering streak, letters, time capsules, memories, the Live Pics album, answered questions, diary pages, wishes and calendar dates are stored locally on your iPhone. The home screen widgets read the same local data through a private app group.

This data is included in your normal encrypted device and iCloud backups if you have them enabled. Those backups belong to you and to Apple, and we have no access to them.

What happens when you connect a partner

Connecting a partner is optional, and it is the moment when data first leaves your phone. Until you ask for an invite code or enter your partner's, nothing leaves your device: no account is created for you and no couple record exists.

When you ask for a code, we create an anonymous account through Firebase Authentication and a couple record holding your invite code and the name you entered. Firebase assigns that account a random identifier. There is no email login, no password and no profile.

Once two devices are paired, the content you send each other passes through Google Cloud Firestore so that it can reach your partner. Depending on the features you use, that can include:

• the names you entered for the two of you, and your relationship start date;
• letters, messages, answers and replies to questions, diary words you chose to share, time capsules, calendar events, wishes and live session state;
• photos you deliberately add to a shared feature, and a couple avatar if you set one;
• the small technical state that keeps two devices consistent, such as nudges and sync markers.

Memories and the Live Pics album have no sync at all and stay on your device. We never ask for your phone number or a social profile, and there is no public profile, no feed and no way for a stranger to find you.

You can stop sharing at any time by resetting your relationship in Account.

Sign in with Apple

You can attach your anonymous account to your Apple ID so that a lost or replaced phone does not cost you your pair. When you do, we ask Apple for no personal data at all: no name, no email address, not even a private relay address. Apple returns an identifier for the link and nothing else. That is the whole of it.

Subscriptions and purchases

Grow Love PRO is sold through the App Store. Apple takes the payment, so we never see or store your card details, your billing address or your Apple ID credentials.

To offer the subscription and to know whether it is active, the app uses Adapty, a subscription service that talks to Apple's StoreKit on our behalf. Adapty receives your purchase and renewal state, together with the identifier for vendor that Apple gives to apps from the same developer. We do not connect your purchase to your Grow Love account identifier, and Adapty is not given your content or your names. Apple's own privacy policy covers the payment itself.

Statistics inside the app

To see which features people actually open, the app sends a short list of anonymous product events to Google Analytics for Firebase: things like a feature being opened, a paywall being shown, or a purchase being completed, plus the automatic events the SDK sends when the app is first opened or a session starts.

What that stream deliberately never contains: your letters, answers, diary entries, capsules or photos, your names, your dates, a user identifier of ours, any personal user property, and any screen by screen record of what you looked at. It exists to answer "do people use the question bank at all", not "what did these two write to each other".

This is not advertising and it does not follow you anywhere. There is no advertising SDK in the app, no advertising identifier is requested, and the App Tracking Transparency prompt never appears because there is nothing to track.

Notifications

Reminders about anniversaries, sealed capsules, events and your streak are scheduled on your device by iOS. They are local notifications: their text never leaves your phone, and we do not operate a push server that could read or send them.

What we never collect

Grow Love does not collect your location, your contacts, your calendar outside the app, health data, financial data, browsing or search history, or advertising identifiers. The app contains no crash reporting service and no performance monitoring service.

This website

The site is delivered and protected by Cloudflare, which processes the technical request data needed to serve and secure it. We also use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand aggregate performance and visits. It is configured as a cookie free analytics service and does not create advertising profiles or track you across websites.

The light or dark theme you choose is saved in your browser's local storage. We do not use advertising cookies. Because the current site does not use non-essential cookies, it does not show a cookie consent banner.

The launch waitlist

If you join the waitlist, we store the email address you submit and the sign-up time in Google Cloud Firestore. We use it only to send the launch notification you asked for, and for nothing else: no newsletter, no promotions, no sharing with anyone. The legal basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by writing to us.

We plan to delete waitlist addresses after the launch message has been sent, and we will remove yours earlier on request.

Why we may use your data

• To provide the app features and the partner sync you chose to use. For the paid part this is the performance of our agreement with you, and for the free part it is our legitimate interest in delivering the app you installed.
• To process your subscription and to know whether it is active. This is the performance of our agreement with you.
• To keep the services secure, to troubleshoot problems, and to improve Grow Love using anonymous product statistics. This is our legitimate interest, balanced by keeping your content out of that stream entirely.
• To send the one-time launch notice when you asked for it. This is your consent.
• To meet legal obligations and to respond to valid legal requests.

Who we share it with

We do not sell personal data, we do not share it for targeted or cross-context behavioural advertising, and we do not disclose it for anyone else's marketing. We have never done so and there is no plan under which we would.

We share data only with the service providers who make Grow Love work, and only to the extent each of them needs:

• Google (Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore): the anonymous account and the synced couple content.
• Google (Analytics for Firebase): the anonymous product events described above.
• Adapty: subscription and purchase state.
• Apple: the payment, the App Store transaction and Sign in with Apple.
• Cloudflare: delivery and protection of this website, and its cookie free analytics.

These providers act on our instructions for our part of the processing, and they operate infrastructure in several countries, so your data may be processed outside the country you live in, including in the United States. Transfers rely on the safeguards those providers offer, such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses. We may also disclose data if the law genuinely requires it, or to protect against fraud or abuse, and if Grow Love is ever sold or reorganised, data would pass to the new owner under this same policy.

How long we keep it

Local app data stays until you delete it or remove the app. Synced data is kept while it is needed to provide shared features, and until a reset or a valid deletion request is completed, subject to limited backup, security and legal retention. Waitlist addresses are kept until the launch message has been sent. Anonymous product statistics are kept in aggregate for a limited retention window and cannot be traced back to you or to your content.

How it is protected

Data travelling to and from our providers is encrypted in transit, and it is encrypted at rest on their infrastructure. Access to the Firestore database is restricted by security rules so that a couple's documents can only be read by the two devices in that couple. Grow Love does not currently claim end-to-end encryption: your synced content is protected by these measures, not by a key that only the two of you hold.

No system is perfect. If a breach ever affected your data, we would notify you and the relevant authority where the law requires it.

Your choices and your rights

The strongest choice is the one built into the app: do not pair, and almost nothing leaves your phone. You can also decline the waitlist, and you can turn reminders off in Account.

Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to access your personal data, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to certain processing, to receive a copy in a portable form, to withdraw consent you have given, and to complain to your local data protection authority. In the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom these rights come from the GDPR, and in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Virginia and other United States states with a privacy law, comparable rights apply, including the right to know, to delete, to correct and to opt out of sale or targeted advertising, which we do not do in any case. We do not use your data to make automated decisions about you, and exercising a right will never make the app worse for you.

Write to [email protected] to exercise any of these. Because there is no email login, we may need to ask you for something that identifies the pair before we can act, and we will ask for as little as possible.

Deleting your data

Three doors, all of them yours:

• Account, then Reset relationship removes your couple, your photo, your start date and everything you created from this device, and stops sharing.
• Deleting your account removes the account record, your avatar slot and the anonymous account itself from our provider.
• Deleting the app removes the local data with it.

All three are permanent, and none of them can reach a copy already delivered to your partner's device: that copy is theirs, in the same way a posted letter is. If anything is left that you want gone, write to us and we will remove it.

Children

Grow Love is intended for adults in a relationship and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from a child under 13, and if we learn that we have, we delete it. Between 13 and 17, the app should be used only with the permission of a parent or guardian.

Changes

If the way Grow Love handles data changes, we update this page and the date above. That rule applies to this document itself: the date is not decoration. Material changes will be explained in the app or on this website where appropriate.
